Fantastic place off the beaten track in old Funchal. We were walking past when one of the staff asked if we wanted to see a menu. My wife had already declared she wanted “massive prawns” for dinner. A quick look inside and it was definitely our style. The place looked immaculately clean and was new/newly renovated in a contemporary industrial style. The menu was small but varied and importantly had the tiger prawns. I opted for a rib-eye steak that had the most amazing Cafe de Paris sauce. I am a level one sommelier but at this level, they don’t cover the wonderful Portuguese wines. Our server recommended a fantastic dry white from Douro called Grainha. All in all, a great night. Fantastic food, great service and very reasonable prices. We hope to be back before we leave!

Tolles kleines Restaurant.
Wir waren bereits im April dort, gerade noch nicht Hochsaison. Daher gab es auch noch genug Platz, haben aber trotzdem reserviert. Was immer zu empfehlen ist.
Der Service war sehr gut. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr aufmerksam, das Essen war ebenfalls sehr gut und das Fleisch auf den Punkt gebraten. Der Octopus war sehr zart.

Excellent, le meilleur poulpe que j'ai pu manger. Les portions sont généreuses et les produit de qualité.
Dessert élaboré et très bon.
Prix légèrement au dessus de la moyenne.
J'ai enlevé une étoile au service parce les employés (sauf Micaela & une autre) sont arrogant et hésitaient à nous faire asseoir, mais heureusement que le patron nous a gentillement accueilli.

The entire experience was sublime! The starters of prawn stew and oxtail
Croquettes were a taste sensation!
The mains of lamb shank, prawn mash and the winner of octopus was on a level I have never ever tasted before. If you love octopus, please order this! It absolutely blew my taste buds. Was just incredible, paired with a bottle of sauvignon blanc was perfection.
The portion sizing for the mains is very substantial, we couldn’t actually fit in a dessert after was so full.

The staff were very friendly and extremely attentive. Full marks to the whole experience. Highly recommended if you ever visit Funchal.

This Mediterranean restaurant is run tightly by the owner who makes sure the service is great and the product is excellent. We were greeted by him at the entrance and he got us seated in no time. The server who handled our order was smart, pleasant and efficient, wearing a bright smile throughout the service. We had other servers delivering dishes and you could see they act as a team and are well trained. To top it up, the food is also worth noting. Loved the shrimps in coconut curry sauce (& had to get more bread to soak it up) the vegetarian risotto and the grouper risotto were just as tasty and satisfying. Bravo to all concerned - you are delivering a great product and service.
PS - Olivia was the owner’s grandmother - a proud one I’m sure!

Our visit to Olivia was completely unplanned, and it ended up being one of our favourite meals. We didn’t have a reservation, but the staff were kind enough to squeeze us in, which we really appreciated.
For starters, we ordered the prawn curry and the oxtail croquettes both were incredibly rich, flavourful, and absolutely delicious.
For mains, we had the octopus and the lamb shank, and we genuinely loved both dishes. Everything was well cooked, beautifully seasoned, and very satisfying.
For dessert, we tried the guava cream and the sugarcane crème. These were good, although not quite what we were expecting. That said, they were still enjoyable and rounded off the meal nicely.
Overall, we had a really lovely experience and would definitely recommend it.

Este es uno de los mejores sitios que probamos en Madeira. La croquetas de rabo de toro están muy buenas. Como amantes del risotto decidimos probar los dos que hai en la carta. El pargo con risotto de lima y algas está buenísimo, es fresco y original. El risotto de setas es espectacular, creo sinceramente que es el mejor risotto que he probado 😍. Moito obrigado!

Restaurante muy bueno, y el trato excelente. Cené con mi pareja y pedimos una botella de vino verde, unas gambas con leche de coco y curry (picaban un poco por el jengibre pero estaban muy ricas), bacalao con patatas y pulpo con puré de patatas (buenísimo). Salió todo por 65€. Sitio al que ir si quieres darte una cenita rica por Funchal.

Le service est long, certes, mais au vue de la qualité des plats, c'est amplement pardonné. Tout est fait maison et ça se sent.
Et cela pour un prix tout à fait raisonnable. Je ne le recommande pas, je vous ordonne de vous y rendre dans les plus brefs délais !

Great restaurant, we came back twice here. We have tried octopus, tiger prawns and black angus steak. The portions are huge, meals are very tasty and leaves you satisfied. However the steak on one side was more well done than medium rare. Also the service is a bit lacking. The first time we had to wait for 30minutes to get the check and then we just went to pay by ourselves at the bar. Then second time the waitress forgot our beverages. Don't get me wrong, I saw the staff working super hard, so maybe it just happened with us. The atmosphere inside would be nice but the restaurant is always packed with people and it is very noisy, so I suggest to take a table outside. Nevertheless I would come back again when in Madeira

Sehr gutes Essen! Steak war wirklich gut. Mich persönlich stört die Musik ein bisschen. Da das Restaurant nicht so groß ist kann es ein bisschen laut werden. Es hat länger gedauert bis wir unsere Hauptspeise bekommen haben, also empfehle ich mindestens das „Couvert“ (Brot mit drei kleinen Aufstrichen).
Alles in allem eine sehr schöne und köstliche Erfahrung. 🥩🥬🤤

Das Essen war sehr lecker und der Service sehr zuvorkommend. Das Lamm war super Zart und für die Partnerin wurde sogar das Menü angepasst. Leider hat und das Ambiente ein wenig enttäuscht, wir hätten uns mehr Bilder / Pflanzen und andere Beleuchtung gewünscht, die diesen Ort noch gemütlicher gemacht hätten. Aber wir kommmen für das Essen gerne wieder.

Sehr schönes, modernes Restaurant. Wir hatten Glück, dass wir ohne Reservierung einen Tische bekommen haben.
Unser Essen war sehr lecker und man kann den Köchen bei der Arbeit zuschauen.
Auch Vegetarier können hier auf ihre Kosten kommen. Das Risotto war sehr schmackhaft. Nur die Gemüsestücken waren für mich nicht ganz passend. Mehr Pilze wären da besser gewesen.

Un restaurante muy bien cuidado, tiene terraza exterior y tiene un comedor muy acojedor con la cocina a la vista de los comensales. Incluso los servicios con su diseño, velas, etc; contribuyen al bonito ambiente de este lugar!
El trato del servicio genial, todos los platos muy ricos, totalmente recomendable el pargo con rissotto y el peito de pato!

No me alcanzan las palabras para describir los sabores de estos platos, sólo me queda decir que fue una experiencia gastronómica alucinante. Comimos un plato de pescado con base de risotto y otro de cordero con boniato; saboreamos cada bocado con inmenso placer. De postre un brownie con helado, otra locura.
Parada imperdible si se visita Funchal.

Die Lammschulter war mega und das Ceviche super, genauso alle anderen Gerichte.
Wir waren in 14 Tagen sogar 2 mal da.
Ein sehr freundlicher Service und eine offene Küche.
Wir hatten sehr schöne Abende und kommen gern wieder.

What a great place! Very friendly, attentive staff and the food was gorgeous! I had some homemade bread with tapenade and tuna pâté, followed by the most tender octopus with dreamy mashed potatoes and chard. A lovely large glass of white wine, and a cheeky 10-year-old Madeira as a dessert. All came in at around €40, including a large bottle of water and service charge. Also very solo-traveller friendly (as, well, almost everywhere has been in Funchal, to be fair), which was pleasing after being very obnoxiously turned away from another restaurant as though I was a nuisance. Naming no names, but in a parallel universe it might be called ‘Casual’. Thank you, Olivia, for a lovely meal and experience.

Самое вкусное и лучшее место для нас в Фуншале! Стейк был очень сочный и вкусный, осьминог был супер мягкий и нежный. Большие порции, вкусные гарниры и соусы! Хорошее вино, атмосфера, приветливый персонал, большие удобные столы, в общем все что нужно что б вкусно и классно покушать в городе и получить удовольствие! Рекомендуем!

He ido a cenar con amigas y la verdad que todo buenísimo y él servicio perfecto. Los tres camareros que nos han atendido han sido súper amables, profesionales y cercanos.
El precio muy acorde con la calidad y el ambiente perfecto para una cita tanto con amigas como en pareja.
Lo recomendamos muchísimo y volveríamos encantadas.

At first glance this place is a very inconspicuous, but wonderful and stylish restaurant. It can only be discovered if you have received a recommendation for it or, like we did, by lucky coincidence.
The Mediterranean cuisine is simply fantastic and Riccardo and his team have a very attentive and pleasant manner to look after their guests.
The menu is small but fine and has something to offer for each type of taste.
Our highlight was the daily changing lunch menu. We even scheduled our vacation activities to include this every day.
The restaurant visitors are made up of insiders who have become friends and local business people, who contribute to a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Wenn Ihr in Funchal mal wirklich gut essen wollt, ohne viel Drumherum, dann empfehle ich Euch das Olivia. Das Ambiente ist zwar nicht außergewöhnlich, aber die Speisen sind hervorragend und der Service ganz prima. Wasser ist inklusive und wir haben für drei Gerichte gerade einmal 26 Euro bezahlt. Wir kommen vor unserer Abreise sicher noch einmal wieder.

En vacances sur l'île de madère et en visite à Funchal, nous avons choisi ce restaurant qui nous a paru très chic au premier abord.
A l'intérieur l'ambiance est très conviviale avec la cuisine ouverte sur la salle. L'accueil a été très chaleureux. La commande a été rapide. Les plats étaient délicieux.
Si vous aussi vous venez visiter la ville, n'hésitez pas à prendre une table dans cet établissement, vous ne le regrettez pas. 👍🏻🍽️

Portate di alto livello pur rimanendo con delle quantità molto abbondanti.
Personale molto cordiale e socievole (grazie Monica per la tua simpatia e gentilezza).
Anche andando senza prenotazione, durante l’orario di punta e non, si attende per un massimo di 10 minuti su un divano molto comodo.
Esperienza da consigliare e se dovessi tornare a Madeira sarebbe ancora la prima scelta.
